Let me tell you right up front ….. these last few weeks have been CRAZY!!!
I spent the two weeks before Christmas in Wisconsin helping my daughter and family pack up their home in anticipation of their move. I then raced back home to Arkansas for our Arkansas “family Christmas”. I then turned around and headed back up to Wisconsin to help with the big move…..on the coldest day of the year at 26 below zero wind chill factor! BRRRRR – so hard on my warm weather, sun loving body!
I’ve promised I would share some of our moving experiences and room transformations and today I am going to share with you a room made especially for a little “Princess”.
Bedroom for a Princess
We began transforming what had obviously been a little boy’s dream room – but a little girl’s nightmare. That Spiderman just had to go!
Using Sherwin Williams Multi-Purpose Latex Primer, the honey oak trim was primed then followed with a coat of Sherwin Williams Pro Classic Interior Acrylic Latex Enamel. I love this paint and it was great to work with. It went on super easy and left a wonderful, smooth finish on all of the trim work.
To cover “Spidey”, the walls were primed with the same primer used on the trim. Once the primer had dried, each wall was painted with a beautiful soft shade of pink, Floral Linen by Behr. No more Spiderman – just very “girlie”!
After the painting was completed, daddy hung a chandelier (we found a perfect one at Menard’s) fit for his little “Princess” in the center of the room.
To accent the chandelier, a ceiling medallion was painted the same pink color we had used on the walls.
We loved the look of the new “girlie” room. A perfect “Bedroom for a Princess”!
White ruffled curtains from Target were hung at the window.
A few “Princesses” found their way onto the bed under the glow of the chandelier. The bedding we used was from Pottery Barn “Brooke” collection for girls.
All the finishing touches were added while the resident of the room had been away at a birthday party ….. but if these pictures of her reaction are any indication …. I think she loves it!

How do you paint the trim without getting paint on the carpet?
Lovely room, the soft pink is such a sweet color! I must say the previous Spiderman room looked actually pretty impressive, but what little girl would not love this princess room!
Yes the Spiderman was pretty fun – but not so much for my granddaughter. 🙂
Debi, what a fabulous job, and her reaction is perfect! Thank you for sharing. You are one of the features tonight at the Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Lucky little girl! Lovely pink. Chandelier and madalion look gorgeous.
Do you think we spoil her? 🙂 She is so fun to please.
Love the ceiling madalion; that is one LUCKY little princess!
The ceiling medallion was a simple upgrade. We just painted it the same color as the wall and we were done. It added so much to the light.
I love her reaction to the room!! Her sweater dress is adorable, by the way. How I miss those days when my daughter was that young. On the flip side, we are still in the process of decorating her dorm room. Great results Debi!!
It did my heart good when I saw her reaction. Just wait you when you have little grandchildren it is even more fun! Have a great time decorating your daughters dorm room. That is a fun time too!
That is adorable! I love the pink wall colour and the chandelier with its little ceiling medallion! Beautiful room for a beautiful girl!
