One of the easiest ways to get inspired for your holiday decorating is from one of the many wonderful decor magazines.
Have you ever looked at a magazine and thought to yourself – I wish my home looked just like that picture.
It can! Use that Christmas magazine inspiration for your own holiday decorating with things you already have on hand!
The inspiration for my holiday mantel decor this year came from this cover on the Christmas edition of The Cottage Journal.
Don’t the traditional reds and greens look cozy and welcoming?
It’s always great to have inspiration for your decorating and magazines offer wonderful inspiration.
So I set out to recreate the cover my way.
Christmas Magazine Inspiration
A tree topper was created using stems of glittered berries and greens and accented with big bows. I loved the burlap holly ribbon I found at Hobby Lobby. The ribbon was the only thing purchased for this look …. everything else was previous holiday decorating.
Burlap ornaments were created using this method to coordinate with the ribbon.
Ivy ornaments, on hand from previous decorating, were a great compliment to the total look.
Glittered platinum snowflakes added a bit of sparkle to the tree.
Of course one of my special pineapple ornaments found its way into the branches.
A woodland Santa added a bit of whimsy to the fireplace.
Complimentary bows topped the packages beneath the tree.
Garlands nestled with berries into the greens kept the mantel simple.
Here’s a quick view looking into the room behind the mantel. Stay tuned for a look at the rest of the house.
So … using Christmas magazine inspiration …. here is my version of the Cottage magazine cover.
Using decor magazines for your holiday inspiration is so much fun and simplifies your decorating!
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
