This past weekend I finally began thinking about a little Halloween decorating. I had recently been in a store and they had the simplest Halloween decoration I think I had ever seen.
It was just so cute I had to share it and so simple you really don’t need instructions, but here we go.
Cheesecloth Hanging Ghosts
I just gathered up cheesecloth, a piece of black felt, a couple of white balloons and my glue and I was ready to go.
I began by cutting four squares of cheesecloth. The size you will cut yours will depend on how large you want your finished hanging ghosts and the size of balloon you choose. For my hanging ghost, I used a 36” square piece of cheesecloth.
Blow up a couple of white 12” balloons.
Simply drape two pieces of the white cheesecloth over each balloon. Work the tied balloon end through the cheesecloth. You won’t even have to cut the cloth to get the end of the balloon through.
Once the cloth has been draped over the balloon, cut a pair of eyes and a mouth out of the black felt and glue them onto the cloth. You can use glue dots or tacky glue
– either will work well.
Tie a piece of fishing line or thread to the top end of the balloon and your ghost is ready to hang.
These hanging ghosts are such a cute and easy Halloween decoration – perfect for a Halloween party.
Wouldn’t these look terrific hanging from the lights in a tall entry way? We used baseballs hanging from my daughter’s lights at my grandson’s birthday party HERE. I think these hanging ghosts would just be adorable there for Halloween.
Check back in the next few days as I share two more simple cheesecloth ghost decorations for the upcoming holiday.

Aren’t they fun Rosie! Hanging on the porch for “trick or treaters” would be so cute too!
