Let’s start off our holiday decorating with a quick and easy project. This “Ho Ho Ho” wreath is a fun project and adds a whimsical look to your door.
Just a few items will be needed to create this wreath.
Red Garland – the thicker the better – I found mine at Hobby Lobby and was able to get it at 50% off.
Wire wreath frame
Letters – 3 “H” and 3 “O”
Aluminum foil
Black 3” ribbon
Wire
Zip ties
Piece of scrap cardboard
HO HO HO Wreath
Begin by attaching your garland to the wreath. My garland was the perfect length and wrapped around my wreath frame exactly two times. I attached it once to the outside of the frame and once on the inside using red floral taped wire. You can have your local florist order a box of assorted colored floral tape just for this use.
Once the garland was attached, a piece of scrap cardboard was cut into the shape of a belt buckle.
The cardboard buckle was then covered with aluminum foil to create the look of a shiny buckle.
A length of black ribbon was placed behind the buckle and attached with glue. I used tacky glue, but any good glue will work.
Once the glue had dried, I attached the “belt” to the wreath working it through the garland and around the wreath frame.
To hold the letters together, a clear zip tie was used. I could have glued the letters together, but was afraid the cold winter air might pop the glue apart.
The full length of the zip tie was left on to be used to help attach the letters to the wreath.
The letters were then inserted into the garland and attached to the wreath frame.
And we are done with our creation. What a fun and whimsical look it adds to our door and a great project to do with the kids!!
