Easy Black and White Pumpkin Wreath
If you have received this post earlier today I apologized right from the beginning. I have been told that some people received it but were unable to open the post. So….I am going to try this again!
If you visited this blog last week, you will remember my daughter sent me a couple of pictures of Halloween Décor she wanted me to create. And you will also remember I have a hard time refusing a request like that! So off I set to make them.
Last I shared these cute BOO Pumpkin Candlestick Accents and this week I am going to recreate this “Spooky” wreath with an Easy Black and White Pumpkin Wreath tutorial.
Easy Black and White Pumpkin Wreath
With white pumpkins being all of the rage lately, I thought it would be an easy task to find small white pumpkins for this project. Not so! I looked in the stores, online and everywhere I could think of, with no luck.
So I set out to create my own.
I began by purchasing small orange pumpkins in two sizes from Hobby Lobby, along with a black feather garland, black tinsel chenille stems, a Styrofoam wreath, a package of small, black glittered spiders and a wonderful stem of black glittered grass, complete with glittered bats. I was ready to begin!
I sprayed all of the pumpkins with some Krylon white satin spray paint I already had on hand. It took just minutes to paint them and they were dry in just 10 minutes,, just like the can says! Once the white paint had dried, I lightly sprayed them with just a light coating of off white to tone down the white.
And if you know me, I can’t be happy with just a white pumpkin…. I had to add just a touch of dimension to them with a smattering of gray by sponge painting a watered down gray paint for accents.
As the pumpkins were drying, I created a chenille spider web for the center of this wreath. You can find the easy tutorial on creating the spider web HERE. Once the web had been created, I attached it to the center of the wreath by simply inserting the ends of the chenille stems in to the wreath and securing them with a hairpin formed from an additional piece of chenille stem.
The white pumpkins were then inserted into the Styrofoam wreath in a random pattern, working the different sizes evenly around the wreath until the wreath was covered.
Once the pumpkins had been inserted, the black feather boas were worked among the pumpkins, covering the green Styrofoam.
The boas were secured with black headed straight pins. I used about one and a half of the boas.
I then took apart the black glittered grass stem and inserted the pieces around the wreath between the pumpkins.
Next the three wonderful glittered bats were added.
Little glittered spiders were glued to the pumpkins in various spots to add even more fun to the wreath.
And we are done!
I can’t wait to see how it looks in my daughter Halloween display! I am headed there this week to visit and I am sure we will have a great time putting together the décor we have created. Stop back soon to see the final vignette!
