Family Favorite Chili

- 2 lbs of ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 (5 ounce can) diced green chiles
- 1 stalk of celery, diced
- 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 2 (15 ounce) cans of tomato sauce
- 2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans - with liquid, for variety I use dark and light
- 2 (15 ounce) cans pinto beans
- 2-3 teaspoons cumin powder
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1½ teaspoons black pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups water
- Begin by browning the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. After browning, drain off the fat.
- In large pot or crock pot, combine the remaining ingredients. Add the drained beef.
- Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 2 – 3 hours. (4-5 hours in a crock pot)
- Now sit back, snuggle up in front of the fire, and enjoy!
