I simply love this time of year.
Waking up to the sounds of the birds singing!
The sunshine and warmth encouraging all things fresh and new.
To me, in my home, there is no better place to enjoy the peace of the day than right outside on the back deck.
I have been spending a bit of time out there sprucing up and adding a bit of color. It’s always fun to try a new look each year.
In the beginning ….
You can see in the before pictures, the deck was looking a little plain. These pictures were taken when I first moved in to my sweetie’s home a couple of summers ago. You might remember, I was transplanted to Arkansas from Illinois after marrying a high school friend. You can read a bit about that HERE in my very first post.
Last year I had done a little remake on the wicker settee I had gotten in a “garage sale swap”. That happens when two people who are holding a sale together end up swapping out items rather than selling them. My best “girlfriend” ended up with a table and I ended up with the wicker settee. A great swap if you ask me! It doesn’t help to get rid of much, but it doesn’t cost anything either!
And after!
I love the settee and it fit perfectly on the deck.
I revamped a wicker coffee table in the same brown tone and added it in front of the settee.
A perfect area to enjoy a visit.
A wicker library table found at a “going out of business sale” received the same treatment and adds an additional decorating area behind the settee.
I recovered the cushions on the settee using a lovely shade of green, accented with brown piping.
The pillows, of coordinating floral and stripe prints, were created adding wonderful accents to all of the sitting areas.
Not wanting to go to the additional expense of replacing the chair cushions, I simply added toppers to the chairs in the striped fabric. Tying the sides together with the additional cording keeps the toppers held snugly on the chair.
This reading corner is one of my favorite spots. Morning tea is a special treat as the sun beams down at just the right time and the view overlooking the valley is amazing this time of day.
And right above the table hangs one of our hummingbird feeders hung with an upside down basket hanger. You can find this simple creation HERE.
I love this area. It is my own little piece of heaven. Stop by anytime!
Do you have your own little piece of heaven? I would love to hear about the special place you love.
I will be sharing today at the following parties:

Just gorgeous! I LIVE on my deck in my gazebo. If I had a deck like this, I’d probably NEVER be in the house! Great details and I love the colors you used too.
Thanks Lauren. I love the outdoors as well. This is absolutely my favorite time of year. If I could I would set my office up on the deck.
Stop by again sometime. I am headed over to your blog right now!
