Sometimes you see something while you are out browsing through a second hand store or consignment shop that catches your eye and you think, “now I could do something with that”! A couple of weeks ago I was out doing just that with my BFF who was visiting from Illinois and found these lovely brown bottles.
I loved their golden amber color and they said ”fall” to me just looking at them. Now I know these are wine bottles and I probably could have gotten them filled – but the thought of drinking 12 bottles of wine just to get my brown bottles just didn’t appeal to me. And besides, they were only a dollar apiece.
My mind clicked back to a tablescape I had seen one time using brown bottles to spell out thanksgiving and thought these bottles would work perfectly for something similar.
This was such an easy project, but made just a perfect addition to my fall décor.
Fall Decorating with Brown Bottles
I gathered my bottles and a roll of vinyl for cutting with my cricut machine. The machine had been sitting in my closet for some time and really needed a project to get it into action again!
Once the size and style of my lettering was determined, I simply fed the vinyl into the cricut and cut the lettering. Easy peasy!
The vinyl lettering was so easy to use. Each letter peeled off of the backing with ease and was then placed on each one of the brown bottles. Being a perfectionist, I did have to pull a few of the letters back off and adjust them. No problem, the letters could be removed and adjusted easily.
Once I had them finished, I had to determine where I would use them.
You might remember we have three mantles in our home; one of them just seemed like a great place to display the bottles.
I just began by leaning a large mirror against the stone mantle. Then a few fall berry branches were arranged along the mantle and in front of the mirror.
To add a bit of interest and height to the bottles, I found a few odds and ends of pieces of various silk stems and added them to each bottle.
Next the bottles were simply sat across the mantle.
A few additional fall leaves had been tucked among each one.
What easy mantle décor and I loved the look!
