Each morning I can feel the crispness of the air and I am gently reminded the fall season is slowly making its way into Arkansas.
I have to admit it – I am a spring and summer girl! The fall season simply reminds me of the cold, wintery days ahead.
One thing I can embrace in the fall is the vibrant warm colors of the season. The beautiful shades of amber, gold, and crimson bring warmth into a chilly day.
The first step in my fall decorating usually begins with one of the three mantels in our home. Yes three!!! – And all of them the same style. Today I am going to share with you a mantel from last year. Maybe taking a look at the past will spur me on to decorating for this year!
Fall Mantel Decor
I began by digging out all of my tubs of fall décor. You can see each is labeled with the season. Each year when I pack away the seasonal items, I include a small note telling me what I will find inside; so helpful when the season comes around again.
A fall garland was first placed lengthwise on the mantel.
To add dimension to the look, branches of cascading amber leaves were added to each end. I simply tucked the ends of the branches under the garland.
A sunflower swag – complete with gourds – was layered over the leaf garland.
Wired fall ribbons were formed into simple bow tie bows to add a small touch to a pair of candlesticks.
The candlesticks added height to the fall mantel decor and balanced the hanging leaves.
Faux gourds were tucked in among the garlands.
I just love these gourds – so life-like!
A wreath was added to center the fall mantel decor.
To add interest and a traditional feel, antique bobbins were placed throughout the mantel.
I loved the way the colors made the look come alive – a beautiful look for the season.
Are you ready to start your fall decorating? I think I just might begin this weekend!

Mantels are one of my favorite items to decorate, even though I struggle with them. Yours looks lovely and well balanced.
Thank you Helen. I love decorating mantels as well. There are times I struggle myself. I keep moving things until I finally hit on the right look.
