Halloween Chalkboard Wine Bottles with Bling!
If you have been following along with this blog over the last couple of weeks, you know I have been creating Halloween décor …. And you know I have been making a lot of things in the black and white theme.
Today I am going to create fun Halloween Chalkboard Wine Bottles with Bling! using chalkboard paint, wine bottles and a package of gemstones.
This was truly a fun project!
Halloween Chalkboard Wine Bottles with Bling!
I began by painting three similar wine bottles with the chalkboard spray paint …. After emptying the wine bottles, removing the labels and washing them down to remove any fingerprints and oils.
I gave each bottle at least two coats of the paint, using very light coats to prevent the paint from running. Using light coats of paint allows for a nice smooth finish on the paint.
Once the bottles had their last coat, I let the paint “cure” for 24 hours and then seasoned the chalk paint by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk over the painted bottle. This is an important step. If you miss this step and write on your bottle without seasoning it, you will never be able to completely erase what you have written.
I removed the chalk by wiping it off with a soft paper towel, and began creating a spider web pattern out of gemstones found at my craft store. The rhinestones were backed with glue, making them easy to place on the chalkboard wine bottles. I was also able to remove them and reposition them, making it easy to create the pattern.
My intention was to create spider webs on all three bottles, but right in the middle of creating them I opted to create a spider on one.
Using chalk, I added a cute Trick or Treat message to the Halloween Chalkboard Wine Bottle with Bling.
You can find how to make these simple spider web additions HERE.
I added candles to make them into candlesticks! Wouldn’t these make a cute addition to a buffet or table setting?
