One of my favorite blogs, Southern Hospitality, hosted a party this weekend. I have learned so much from her blog and was excited when she let us know she would be once again hosting her “Thrifty Treasures” party. Last month was the first one she had hosted in a while, and she has decided to host the party just once a month.
As I had just started this blogging adventure, I didn’t have a treasure to post at her April party. And this month with the busy weekend, it simply slipped my mind.
And now I am late for the party – but I still want to attend, so here we go!
Rhoda has asked those of us joining the party to share the” fabulous finds” we come across as we are out and about at thrift stores, garage sales, estate sales and anywhere else we might run across a great thrifty treasure.
This month I attended what was advertised as the Northwest Arkansas’ “Largest Yard Sale”. It featured antiques, crafts, food and more. We arrived before 7:30 am and waited in a line of cars nearly a quarter of a mile long.
I found lots of “fabulous finds” and today I am going to show you just a few of the items I found to help with my home and holiday decorating – now and in the future.
Let’s start with these wonderful candlesticks. Not one of them cost over $2 and they were in perfect condition – nice and heavy and a great color for my home.
At the same place, I found this marvelous bowl. I loved the look of it and it worked perfectly next to the candlesticks. I added a few pieces of faux fruit I had recently found at another resale shop. The whole look was under $20.
I found these two pieces for the upcoming fall and Christmas holiday season.
I love the vintage look tree.
The fall swag came in at the staggering price of $.25! It hadn’t even been used and was still in the plastic package.
My bargain of the day was this wonderful swag I found. You might remember, for 33 years I owned my own floral and gift shop, so I knew this was a bargain. It contained over a dozen stems of very nice faux flowers and was already arranged. I knew if I couldn’t find a use for the swag, I could definitely use the flower stems.
Here it is on our new buffet. I love this buffet. We found it at World Market and it has been great fun decorating it. I laid the swag on it just so you could see the size of the arrangement.
And – are you ready for this – it was just $5!! I can tell you it would be much more than that in a store. I am thinking more like $75 – $100 plus.
Right now it has found a home above the armoire in our bedroom. I had wanted something for that space and this is working just perfectly for now.
I found many other items and it was indeed a couple of hours on an early Saturday morning. And as we were leaving, the line was longer than when we arrived!
I hope to join Rhoda next month at her party – and this time I will try not to be late!
And of course I am linking up to the party at Southern Hospitality!
Better late than never!
