Adding a door basket to your door always adds a seasonal welcome to your entrance.
With these step by step instructions you can create your own door basket in no time at all.
The door hanging was begun with a twig basket purchased from Hobby Lobby, along with all of the other flowers used in the basket.
A square piece of Styrofoam covered with artificial moss was inserted into the basket. This kept the foam from showing through the basket and gave it an “earthy” feel. The foam was then securely wired into the top of the basket.Easy to do with the twig like feel of the basket.
To keep the stems of the iris from twisting, the ends of each were coated in hot glue before inserting into the foam.
Once the irises were placed, a bush of a wonderful hanging greenery was inserted deep into the iris basket. I love this greenery. I didn’t even have to cut the bush apart. Fortunately I was able to insert the bush in one piece.
Next I added the faux babies breath to the basket. This was actually a garland of the flower cut apart into individual pieces. This allowed the babies breath to flow out of the arrangement.
To add more color, I used another garland of lavender ranunculus contributing to the trailing of the flowers.
Doesn’t it look springy on the door???
I love the iris. Don’t they look so life like?
I even added a few to my forsythia branches. You can find where I created the branches HERE.
Your home will offer a wonderful spring welcome with this beautiful door basket!
