One of the “perks” of my day job is the opportunity to travel to various states around the US. There is so much to learn and discover across this great county!
I work with a foundation whose mission is to develop knowledgeable and effective leaders to become policy and decision makers for the agricultural industry. There are similar leadership organizations in nearly every state in the US, along with several in countries across the world. Each year our annual meeting is held in a different location, where we are exposed to the agricultural industry in each location.
This year our visit took us to the beautiful state of Kentucky. Over the next few weeks, I hope to share with you some of my experiences while enjoying this journey.
Lunch at the Governor’s Mansion
We were given the opportunity to be the guests of honor at a luncheon hosted by Kentucky governor, Steve Beshear, on the second day of our visit. Today I would love to share with you the beautiful home of Governor’s Mansion.
The weather was absolutely beautiful on the day we arrived and we were greeted by this picturesque view of the mansion.
Invited to browse through the home prior to our luncheon, I took the time to capture as many of the rooms as I could using my cell phone.
I first stepped into the Governor’s Mansion Reception Room with its beautiful royal blues and reds.
The equally beautiful First Ladies Salon was decorated in soft pink tones.
The beautiful marble topped buffet held lovely silver candlesticks and was centered with a unique silver urn.
I fell in love with the sun room right off of the First Ladies Salon. Sun rooms are my favorite rooms in any home.
The sunlight falling across the room just seemed to welcome me into the space.
Across the hall, the Family Dining Room held a beautiful table centered with a beautiful floral arrangement.
We followed the hallway to the Governor’s Mansion State Ballroom where the luncheon was held.
The room held tables filled with beautiful table settings.
And the ceilings were magnificent.
The floral arrangements throughout the home were amazing.
Beautiful shades of pink in the First Ladies Salon.
A creative long, low arrangement on the Family Dining Table.
Vibrant shades of greens, purples and melon in the sun room.
Bright yellows, melon and purple on the luncheon tables.
And even a small arrangement in the bathroom.
After the luncheon, we stepped out onto the wide verandah with beautiful views of the State Capitol and Governor’s Mansion Gardens.
Fall had just begun to paint its lovely colors on the landscape.
The fountains added a wonderful touch to the gardens.
I loved the huge urns that accented the landscapes and gardens.
Thanks for joining me on this lovely day in a truly lovely state. Stop back by over the next few weeks as I share more of this wonderful State of Kentucky.

What a beautiful place they get to call home! I agree the sun room would be a favorite! That table in the family dining is fabulous! Looks like it was a treat to be there!
Thanks for the tour — I assumed that it was a table set for luncheon at the Gov Mansion — you REALLY had luncheon there — how terrific!
Beautiful pictures of the Kentucky Govenor’s Mansion. Look forward to seeing more!
