Of course, with this being Halloween, my Friday Food Favorite just had to be a delicious treat! Oh my goodness, what a treat this is! Ooey Gooey Butter Cake has to be one of the best “treats” of all time.
Ooey Gooey Butter Cake
Not long ago, it was my turn to take treats to my Bible Study, and this recipe from my BFF, Sherrie, just called to me to take for my special group.
I gathered together the ingredients and began creating the delicious Ooey Gooey Butter Cake.
1 box (18.25 oz.) yellow cake mix
3 large eggs
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 box (16 oz.) confectioner’s sugar – plus a bit more for dusting
Begin by heating the oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly spray a 13X9X2 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, 1 egg and 1 stick of melted butter.
Mix well until the dry ingredients are moistened.
Pat lightly into the prepared pan, covering the bottom and sides of the pan.
The sides of the pan should be thinner than the bottom.
In another large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
Add 2 eggs and vanilla extract and beat in until well combined.
Continue by beating in one stick of melted butter and mixing until well blended.
On a low speed, gradually beat in the box of confectioner’s sugar until smooth.
Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crust in the prepared pan.
Bake 40 – 50 minutes, until the sides are set and the center is a just a little jiggly.
Cool completely.
Dust with confectioner’s sugar.
Cut into 20 squares.
Enjoy these mouthwatering treats.
Beware – they are addictive!!!
