It’s hard to believe the Memorial Day holiday is upon us! Where does the time go?
I spent last weekend in Illinois, (yes, it was cold again – 35 degree overnight temperatures), at my sister’s home. My daughter joined us and we had a great time setting up a couple of red, white and blue patriotic themed vignettes on the front porch.
I love my sister’s white spindled porch. It is a picture perfect area.
We created a simple patriotic “table for two”.
Between the three of us, we already had many of the items, so this made for a “budget friendly” tablescape.
We began by draping a round table with red, white and blue striped fabric. This provided the base for the total look. To the back of the table, an easel was draped with a coordinating fabric, anchoring the color scheme and giving the table a bit of height.
Next, we pulled out a small white pitcher, added faux red geraniums and small fabric flags to add to the patriotic look.
Two wire baskets were stacked to create a tall container to hold our apples.
Wine bottles, in a perfect shade of deep blue, served as candle holders.
A wonderful garage sale find of glass flag plates were topped with deep blue salad plates, white bowls and centered with red apples.
Small red, white and blue fabric stars, purchased at JoAnn Fabrics for just 6 for a $1, were scattered around the table.
I just love the spindles of the porch in the background. They add a touch of nostalgia to the look.
The wonderful thing about this decorating theme is it can blend 3 holidays together, carrying us through the July 4th celebration.
Combining Memorial Day, Flag Day and the 4th of July, this patriotic decorating theme can be used for 8 to 9 weeks
and offers a wonderful summer look.
Wishing you each a wonderful Memorial Day.
Thanks for taking time to visit! I am honored to have you with me.
Blogging is a new adventure for me. I would love it if you would take time to leave a comment before you leave.
Love this table…your flowers are beautiful! Those flag plates are great.
Aren’t the plates cute. Those were my sister’s garage sale find. I wish they had been mine! 🙂 It was such fun setting this table up.
You can’t beat good ole red white and blue! Love your patriotic display, and the way you photographed it, great and interesting angles!
