I am so excited to share this special DIY Pier 1 Imports Inspired Faux Rose Heart Wreath with you today. It was such a fun project too and I absolutely loved the way it turned out…..but if I don’t get it posted, it will be too late. It’s less than two weeks until Valentine’s Day! Where has this month gone?!?!
I found this “Faux Rose Heart Wreath” on the Pier 1 site as I was browsing through and loved it …. but it just came in red and that just wasn’t the color I wanted.
Pier 1 Imports Faux Rose Heart Wreath
If you have been reading this blog for a while, you’ll remember these DIY Rose Topiaries I created last summer.
My goal was to find a heart wreath to compliment them, but I couldn’t find one that looked right.
So I set off to create my own and I am here today to show you just how I accomplished it ….. Let’s go!!!
Pier 1 Imports Inspired Faux Rose Heart Wreath
Begin by determining the size of the wreath you want. I couldn’t find a heart shaped Styrofoam in the size I wanted….but no problem.….we can make one.
Make a pattern out of an old newspaper page. Remember that when you insert the roses, your wreath will be bigger than your pattern so you will need to keep your pattern smaller than the determined finished wreath.
My wreath pattern ended up being too large for my sheet of Styrofoam, so I cut the pattern in half and pinned each section to the Styrofoam sheet.
Use corsage pins to secure the pattern into place.
I love using these pins as they have nice large heads on them and the length works nicely to hold the pieces onto the Styrofoam.
Using a sturdy knife with a blade at least as long as the depth of the foam, carefully cut out around the pattern making sure to cut completely through on each side. This is a must so that your Styrofoam will have a nice smooth finish on the top and the bottom of your piece.
Once I had cut on one side, I flipped the foam over and cut through the other side where I could see the markings from the cuts of the first side.
Add “Tacky Glue” to each end of the wreath sections and align the pieces together.
To give the wreath frame extra stability, add glue to the ends of floral pins and insert them over the seam of your foam.

And now the real fun begins!! I love this part and it is so easy!
Begin by cutting the heads off of your Rose Bushes. The bushes I use come from Hobby Lobby. I love to use these bushes for projects when you only need the heads of the flowers. They are just so pretty!
Start placing your stems into your Styrofoam wreath.
Don’t worry about getting them in the perfect spot.…you can easily rearrange each rose if you need to.
Continue inserting your roses until you have covered your wreath.
And …. that’s it .… you are done!
Here is my version in all white. I loved it!
Wouldn’t these be beautiful used for wedding décor?
But … because I wanted my DIY Pier 1 Imports Inspired Faux Rose Heart Wreath to coordinate with my topiaries ….
I added just a touch of the blush pink rose ….
and I love them even more.
Either way, they look gorgeous!
Be sure to stop back by soon to see where they ended up in my Valentine Decorating!
Now … I have a favor to ask …. to help me grow this blog, I would be ever so grateful if you would share this post on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google + or all of them, simply by clicking the icons below.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
I, too< like your heart wreath in the softer colors. … No, Love it! Would you please tell me the width, length and thickness of your wreath and approximately how many roses (heads) you used. I would really like to make this. (Saw you on Imparting Grace and loved the cabinet makeover.)
Thank you for your encouraging comments Janet. My heart frame measured about 14X14 at the very widest and longest points. It was 1 1/2 in thick. I found the white and pink roses at Hobby Lobby. You can see the water drops on the white ones. I liked that look. The pink do not have the drops on them and I choose them because of their pale pink color. I think I used 3 bunches of the white and 1 of the pink which made approximately 52 roses. If you have any other questions please ask. Hope to see you back soon!
I agree with Deborah, yours is so much prettier than the original.
Have a good week.
Tina – you are so sweet!
Your wreath turned out beautiful Deb! I prefer the softer colors too. Thanks for sharing this at What We Accomplished Wednesdays! Have a super week!
Blessings, Deborah
Thank you Deborah. I had a great time doing this project. So easy and simple.
