A couple of weeks ago my sister and I were out shopping at Target. Of course we started in the aisle right inside the door where they have all of the fun seasonal gifts and décor! You know that aisle – the one where everything is under $3.00. I love looking through all of the things and try to come up with ideas to use these inexpensive items.
A wonderful gift bag caught my eye. At only $1.00, I just had to have it.
Once I got my treasures home, the gift bag got my mind twirling. I loved the look of it and wanted to find a way to use it for something other than a gift bag.
REPURPOSED GIFT BAG
I remembered an old frame I had tucked away and decided to try repurpose the bag into a print for the Christmas season. This turned out to be an easy project and I loved the result!
I gathered together the bag – the frame – an old matting – the paints, and began.
I painted the frame in a muted red color and dry brushed it with a bit of black.
I then cut the front from the gift bag. The side pieces of the bag had these marvelous stripes that I used for the matting. I simply cut them to fit my old mat and attached them with glue strips. As the bag would cover most of the mat, they didn’t have to be too wide.
I then placed the front of the bag on top of the matting, adjusting it evenly on the mat.
After cleaning the glass, I simply placed the created “print” into the frame.
I loved the look of the repurposed gift bag! It’s perfect for my Christmas theme this year!
I have been busy decorating for the upcoming holidays and am excited to share the results over the next few days. Hope to have you join me again soon!
