Want a great way to make a friend feel included when they can’t be with there for a special event?
Have you ever heard of Flat Stanley? IF not, you can find out all about him HERE.
The Adventures of Flat Debi
Recently I was not able to attend a “Girls Weekend” my girlfriends and I had been planning for months. A family commitment had come up I needed to be home for and I was feeling low, knowing my friends would be going without me.
But wait … they weren’t going to do that … unbeknownst to me my sweet friend Amy created “Flat Debi” and off we went!!
I laughed out loud when I received my first “Flat Debi” picture through a text message.
We had a weekend at Janet’s house filled with shopping and sewing planned and there I was with my friend Sherrie as we began our sewing project!
It wasn’t long before we got hungry and sat down for a lunch of chicken salad sandwiches. They even got me my Root Beer!
For an afternoon break, we feasted on homemade cookies and washed them down with a bit of wine!
Here I am admiring Amy’s T-Shirt quilt. It looked huge next to me!
I was in bed by 9:30! It had been a long day of visiting and sewing! (And eating).
We got up bright and early the next day.
And we shopped ….and shopped …. and shopped!
Then we took a quick trip to see the world’s largest Ketchup bottle! Any ideas what city we are in?
Once we got back to Janet’s house that night, the excitement really began.
There was a storm and lightning struck the house. Before long the basement began to fill with smoke and the fire department was called!
Here I am helping out the firemen!
After all of the excitement, they wouldn’t let us stay in the house, so we headed to the Hampton Inn. I was exhausted and quickly climbed into bed.
The next morning we got up and enjoyed a great breakfast.
We then headed out for the drive home. But … on the way we realized we had left some of our purchases in Janet’s car. Janet was so sweet and met us half way at this truck stop so we could retrieve them.
Once again I was buckled in and headed for home.
We took one final stop along the way for a visit with Sherrie’s precious grandchildren. I love these little people!
These photos made me laugh every time I got one! If felt so special to know they were thinking about me and took the time to include me in their fun!
The next best thing to being there!
Hope you enjoyed the adventures of Flat Debi!
What special things do you do to make a friend feel special?
I hope you feel as blessed with good friends as I do!

I could just imagine ‘Ah, Mr. Fireman, do you mind if we sit Flat Debi on your uniform so we can get a photo?’ 🙂
Old Time Pottery!!?? I did not know there was one in Illinois, that’s one of my favorite stores to visit in Florida when we go!
